Frustrating day today. We received the initial blood results on the transplant and it seems JT’s strong immune system is fighting Sydney’s bone marrow tooth & nail. The doctors are not happy with the results and we are bummed to say the least.
They prescribed JT another immunosuppressive drug today called Mycophenolate that he will take 3 times a day in hopes that it lowers his immune system more so Sydney’s marrow can get in there and fight to take over. Right now, it shows 7% “Sydney cells” and they were hoping for at least 25% at this stage. They took another blood draw today and will re-run the test to validate the accuracy.
When those results come back, we will re-evaluate our options. Right now it looks like within the next couple of weeks, Sydney will go back in and give platelets to JT in the hopes that combined with the new medication it will be enough of a boost to get this transplant heading in the right direction.
Not a great start to the weekend, but on a positive note, Jim returned today from a week of working in Wisconsin so we’re glad to have him back before we start this new procedure.
Keeping the faith! Thanks as always for all your prayers!

Hey Websters. Wow, I can only imagine that this is tough to take right now. BUT, I also know what fighters you Websters are. If I was the cancer, I would be scared S***less. J.T., hang in there and keep fighting. You are stronger than any of us could ever hope to be and I am OLD!lol
ReplyDeleteI read a quote this week that I am sure you have probably seen, but it reminded me of you and your fighting spirit. It said, "Don't tell God how big your storm is...tell your storm how BIG your God is." We are all praying like crazy J.T. We love you all and are holding you close just now.
We are praying and send you our love!

I imagine by now Sydney has donated platelets for JT, and I'm hoping that, with the new meds, they have started heading things in the right direction. Why can't things ever go just as planned with no hitches at all?! Guess it makes us trust and depend on God even more. Looking forward to reading about Sydney pulling out in the lead very soon. No offense, JT! Love, Susan
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to let you guys know that the Rubenstein's are still pulling for all you guys, and keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteSabrina, We continue to pray and ask anyone we know to pray for JT. He is on SCS and BT prayer list- so there are lots of prayers being sent your way. Tell JT the boys say hi and they cant wait until he's well enough to go back to the cabin. Thomas is shopping for an air soft machine gun of some sort and said he's looking for you! Love Higgins
